Bedminster, New Jersey - MMI Communication announced that it is partnering with a newly formed organization, BloodBuddy.org (www.BloodBuddy.org), to help increase awareness of donating blood.

“BloodBuddy.org was formed when our New Jersey Business Mastermind group was looking for a way to make a difference in the community,” says Mike Martorella, Founder of MMI Communication. “When one of our members recalled a situation where his dad needed blood urgently, we decided to create BloodBuddy.org to promote the importance of giving blood.”

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, according to the American Red Cross, and only 5% of the eligible US population donates blood in any given year. Blood is needed for emergencies, and for people who have cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell anemia, and other illnesses. Some people need regular blood transfusions to live.

BloodBuddy.org members have regularly given blood and have agreed to reach out to their networks of family members, business associates and friends to ask them to donate blood. MMI Communication will provide additional support to BloodBuddy.org through media outreach and by highlighting its involvement in the organization on its website, www.mmicom.com.

“We’re looking to see what kind of an impact five people can have when they begin to use word-of-mouth to motivate others to give blood,” notes Martorella. “That’s why we formed BloodBuddy.org.” The other Mastermind group members involved in Bloodbuddy.org are Mike Jeffries, Founder, Rivers of Revenue, LLC; Saul Simon, CFP, CFS, RFC, Simon Financial Group; Bruce Lorenz, Lorenz Fine Photography; and Woody Nash of Administaff.

To date, BloodBuddy.org has donated whole blood and saved its first hospital partner, Morristown Memorial Hospital Blood Center, over $1,200 in blood purchases. The goal of the organization is to partner with additional reputable blood donation centers to continue to build awareness.
